Te Reo Singalong - Maranga Mai!

Picture
This is one of the exciting new books in my brand new, innovative and really useful Te Reo Singalong series. These are gorgeous full colour picture books with CDs which play the words of the story as a song so you can sing, move and learn te reo Maori at the same time. See some of the pages, listen to the song and buy this book here!

Your Mother Didn't Do That!

Picture
I am so proud of this picture book. It tells the story of a little girl named Holly who asks her father to tell her about the night she was born. Did she hatch out of an egg like a chicken? You'll have to read it to find out! In the US, this book is called Did My Mother Do That? It's a wonderful bedtime read and the illustrations by artist Brian Lovelock are perfect.

It's True...You can Make your own Jokes

Picture
I was so excited in 2007 when this book was announced as a finalist in the NZ Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults. I didn't win, but the book received the most votes from children in the non-fiction category.  The following year, the book came out in another edition, with a different design and a few new bits and pieces. That book's called The Make Your Own Joke Book!

My Story - Sabotage!

Picture
I love Scholastic's My Story series. It's a great way to learn about the history of your own country. My book called Sabotage is the made up story of Rowan Webb and the fictional plot leads to the real life event of the Rainbow Warrior bombing in Auckland in 1985.

My Story - No Survivors

Picture
I knew someone whose brother died in the Erebus tragedy and she was kind enough to share her brother's story with me for this book, called No Survivors. I was thrilled that my daughter Sophie was able to be the cover model. Her photo was taken by my good friend  Pele Lolesi.

Educational Books

Picture
Some of my most well known stories have appeared in Learning Media's Ready to Read series - No, Skipper and Skipper's Happy Tail. My educational stories are in schools in New Zealand, Australia, UK, USA and Canada - and probably a few more places as well. One series - about a boy named Josh - was translated into French for the Canadian market. I was very excited to see a book arrive in the post written by me and all in French!
